Tania Sachdev is an Indian chess player, who holds the titles of International Master (2008) and Woman Grandmaster (2005). By virtue of becoming the eighth Indian Woman Grandmaster, Tania was given the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2009.


                                                     Dronavalli Harika

Dronavalli Harika (born 12 January 1991) is an Indian chess grandmaster.
She gradually came to prominence winning the World Youth Chess Championship in the Girls' Under-14 and Under-18 categories. In 2011 she won the Asian Individual Women Chess Championship. Her personal coach is N.V.S. Raju. Harika earned the Grandmaster title in July 2011.

                                                      Humpy Koneru

Humpy Koneru (born 31 March 1987 in Gudivada, Andhra Pradesh) is an Indian chess Grandmaster.Koneru was originally named "Hampi" by her parents, who derived the name from the word "champion". Her father later changed the spelling to Humpy, to more closely resemble a Russian-sounding name.
 Her January 2010 FIDE Elo rating was 2614, placing her number three in the world for women's players. In 2007 she surpassed the rating of 2577 set by Susan Polgar (often known as Zsuzsa Polgár) to become the second-highest ranked female player in history. She became the second female player ever, after Judit Polgár, to exceed the 2600 Elo mark.
From 2002 through 2008, Koneru held the record as the youngest woman ever to become a grandmaster (not solely a Woman Grandmaster), which she achieved at the age of 15 years, 1 month, 27 days, beating Judit Polgár's previous mark by three months however, this has since been surpassed by Hou Yifan.
In 2001 she won the World Junior Girls Chess Championship. She participated in the Women's World Chess Championship 2006, but was eliminated in the second round. In the Women's World Chess Championship 2008 she made it to the semifinals, but was beaten by Hou Yifan. In 2009 she tied for 1st–4th with Alexander Areshchenko, Magesh Panchanathan and Evgenij Miroshnichenko in the Mumbai Mayor Cup.
In 2009, Koneru accused the All India Chess Federation of preventing her from participating in the 37th Chess Olympiad in Turin. Her father Koneru Ashok who was coaching her was not allowed to travel with her for tournaments. The controversy has not died down. Later that year, the AICF was also embroiled in a controversy with Geetha Narayanan Gopal.
Koneru participated in the FIDE Women's Grand Prix 2009–2011 and finished in overall second position, in turn qualifying as challenger for Women's World Chess Championship 2011. Hou Yifan won the match, winning three games and drawing five.
She is currently in the lead in the FIDE Women's Grand Prix 2013–2014.

Born on 21st September, 1991, Dipika is a fabulous squash player from Chennai. She played her first international tournament when she was in the sixth grade and since then she has never looked back. She has won the German Open, French Open, Dutch Open, Australian Open and Scottish Open on the European Junior Squash Circuit. Currently she is the top woman squash player in the country, representing India along with Joshna Chinnapa. Dipika is ranked 35th in the world rankings.                                         Nameirakpam Kunjarani Devi

Nameirakpam Kunjarani Devi (born 1 March 1968) is the most decorated Indian sportswoman in weightlifting.Beginning 1985, she started winning medals, mostly Gold, in the National Weightlifting Championships in 44-kilogram, 46kilogram and 48-kilogram, the latter her final weight category. She created two new National Records in Trivandrum in 1987. Changing her weight category to 46-kilogram she claimed a Gold in Pune in 1994 but was relegated to Silver when she tried to compete in the 48-kilogram class four years later in Manipur.
Her first World Women's Weightlifting Championship was the Manchester edition in 1989 and the reward of three Silver Medals buoyed her spirits considerably. Since then she has taken part in seven successive World Championships and with the exception of the Melbourne edition in 1993, she has won medals at every one of those competitions. However, she however could not get to the top spot, having always to be content with Silver Medals.
A Bronze Medal was the most she managed in the Asian Games at Beijing in 1990 and Hiroshima in 1994 but failed to secure any medal in the 1998 edition of the Asian Games at Bangkok.
Kunjarani has had better luck in the Asian Weightlifting Championships to which she has been a regular visitor. Starting with one Silver and two Bronze Medals in the 1989 edition in Shanghai, she progressed to three Silver Medals in the 44-kilogram class in the 1991 edition in Indonesia. She retained her second spot in the next one in Thailand in 1992 and China in 1993. Her best performance came in the 1995 competition in South Korea where she won two Gold and one Bronze in the 46-kilogram category. But again went down in 1996 to settle for two Silver and one Bronze in the championship held in Japan.

                                                    Alka Tomar

Alka Tomar is an Indian wrestler. The national National Women Wrestling champion of India, she received the bronze medal in Wrestling (55 kg Freestyle) at the Doha Asian Games in 2006. Alka Tomar also received a bronze at the Senior Wrestling Championships in Guangzhou in China 2006.
She is also a recipient of Arjuna award 2007. The Arjuna Award is India's leading award presented for Sports persons in India.
She was born and brought-up in a village named Sisoli in Muzaffarnagar in a Jat family, is now studying in Gautam Buddha Nagar for the last three years pursuing her Masters degree in physical education from Gautam Buddha Nagar.
She also won a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi. She is the only gold medal winner from the Western Uttar Pradesh region.

Sonika is the only female wrestler who has represented India in the Asian Games. Originally from Haryana, Sonika grew up in New Delhi where she was trained by her father, the legendary wrestler Master Chandgi Ram. Her brother Jagdish is also a promising wrestler. Sonika is proud to belong to a family of wrestlers. It was her father who encouraged her to excel in the game. Sonika is married to Siddhart Malik, an NRI, and is now happily settled in California, USA. She has been featured in Khatron Ke Khiladi with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar. Speaking about her experience in the show, she was thrilled by the new experience on the show as the 13 participants had to perform tricky and challenging stunts to overcome their fears. The act was thus inspiring for all the women across the nation.

                                     Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom

Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom (born 1 March 1983), also known as MC Mary Kom, Magnificent Mary or simply Mary Kom, is an Indian boxer. She is a five-time World Amateur Boxing champion, and the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships. She is the only Indian woman boxer to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing in the flyweight (51 kg) category and winning the bronze medal. She has also been ranked as No. 4 AIBA World Women's Ranking Flyweight category.
In 2012, Sanjay Leela Bhansali confirmed that a biographical film will be made on the life of Mary Kom starring Priyanka Chopra in lead role. The movie is directed by Omung Kumar and would release on September 5, 2014.
She launched her much-awaited autobiography, Unbreakable, at the Forum Mall in Bangalore on 11 Dec '13. Mary Kom also has started India's first female-only fight club at Imphal to teach thousands of girls to defend themselves against sexual violence in India.

Sarjubala Devi (born 1 June 1993) is an Indian woman boxer from Manipur. After a successful achievement in Youth World Women Boxing Championship organized at Turkey, the Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) announced to support Sarjubala Devi in 2012.Sarjubala Devi was born in farmers family. By being inspired from the stories of Mary Kom's success she joined boxing at school in 2005, after two years later, she joined a Sports Authority of India training centre in her city, Imphal India. Her weight category is 48 kgs. She won the world youth championships in 2011 and later went on to win the senior national championships the same year. In the Olympics in 2016, she is expected to a be serious medal prospect.

                                Pritam Rani Siwach

Pritam Rani Siwach was born October 2, 1974 in village Jharsa near GurgaonHaryana) is a former captain of the Indian women's hockey team. In 2008, she was recalled to join the team for the Olympic qualifiers in order to bring an "additional wealth of experience. After the team did not qualify for the Olympics, Siwach stated in an interview, "We are not that bad as the results would show. It was simply a case of missed chances . One difference between my times and now is the midfield. We had an experienced midfield with Sita Gussain at the centre. That helped us. Here, both TH Ranjita and Rosalind Ralte are young, just come into the team. They are potential youngsters, will only improve.
She last played with the team when it won the Gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. She currently runs an academy and is training to become a coach.

Pilavullakandi Thekkeparambil Usha (born June 27, 1964), popularly known as P. T. Usha, is an Indian track and field athlete from the state of Kerala. P. T. Usha has been associated with Indian athletics since 1979. She is regarded as one of the greatest athletes India has ever produced and is often called the "queen of Indian track and field". She is nicknamed the Payyoli Express. Currently she runs the Usha School of Athletics at Koyilandy in Kerala. P. T. Usha was born in the village of Payyoli, Kozhikode District, Kerala. In 1976 the Kerala State Government started a Sports School for women, and Usha was chosen to represent her district.
